Instructions for County Department of Health Staff

In order to be considered for this training and certification, CHD staff will need an email or letter from the county Environmental Health Director or the County Health Department Director/Administrator identifying the individual(s) as their designated person to be trained.  A statement that the individual's duties will include providing radon related technical support, education and outreach to county residents should be included.  Although the Radon and Indoor Air Program will not cover attendance to FEHA AEM, they will cover the costs of the materials, travel, and lodging expenses for county health professionals selected to attend the radon training.  Please forward DOH a copy of your local completed authorization paperwork (i.e. C-676c or other relevant form).  Please include Ms. Ginger Gould, Mr. Jorge Laguna and Ms. Valderine Grant in your correspondence. 

Instructions for Private Sector Environmental Health Professionals

Private sector professionals interested in this class and certification must contact the Radon and Indoor Air Program directly to obtain approval to attend. Once approval is granted, you will be provided with an access code allowing you register and pay online for the class. When you have that access code, CLICK HERE to register online. Please be advised that neither the Radon and Indoor Air Program or FEHA will be able to cover private sector travel cost.

Application Instructions for All Attendees

All applicants must be pre-approved by the Radon and Indoor Air Program before being allowed to register and sit for the certification exam. To apply for training and certification approval, everyone will need to complete the radon certification application, DH Form 1751 and provide the relevant information requested in the application. Certification requirements are found HERE.
